Hoji's mask - finally complete! :D

So it only took well over a year from print that I finally put sometime towards sanding and painting Hoji. And for my first mask build, I'm actually pretty happy with the outcome. :)

Morning!

Another new day and the last day before the work week begins. Printed off a few more pieces with my blender slice technique and even without glue they appear to sit quite nicely. Going to try and develop a more "locking" system but for the time being this serves my purpose extremely well.

Hoji's Mask - Reworked and off to print!!

So finally got around to reworking Hoji's mask from Shadow Warrior. Even trying out my slicing technique to see if helps with assembly.
Thinking I should probably do a tutorial for the Blender slicing and Batch export of STL files, and the sizing the models in Netfabb. But we'll have to see how much time I get to do that up proper. Should roughly take 48 hours to print off all the pieces on the Afinia H479.

I'm Back!!

Been working on some slicing techniques on large 3D print models using Blender and have seen some positive results. if you'd like to test out these prints you can download the STL files from Thingiverse here:

These models were printed on the Afinia H479 Using fine detail and loose fill. Only raft, no supports.

@2012 Highland games (Lewis Park BC)

Wow, What an event! To say the least I thoroughly enjoy myself. With a wide array of events taking place, it was a photographers dream. Having only learned of the event an hour before it began I was unsure of how the day would go or what I was truly in for. When I first arrived to the event there was very few spectators and was beginning to look like a small get together of local bag pipers and dancers. But no more then an hour in the steady buzz of bag pipes the fields began to fill. I tooled around the site looking at the stands and seeing what was being set-up or finished, taking in the dancing of children I wouldn't say were more then 4 years old but had trained well enough to put my two left feet to shame.

Feeling both the awkward stares of the parents at my camera and the now blatant need for dance lessons, I made my way to a tent that had a "Clan" title. Never being one that was good with names I have forgotten which clan it was. There I was greeted by an older gentlemen which was kind enough to educate me in the inner workings of the family clans and incorporation's of other smaller clans into their folds. He then took me to meet the Heavy Events group. I've always wanted to see a small man throw a telephone pole and I was extremely excited when they gave me permission to be inside the fenced area, allowing me to get closer to the action. The group was as friendly as they were diverse, some hailing from California, Alberta, and even home grown BC. But small men they where not. I stayed out of their way, not for making things more difficult, but fear of receiving a brick wall like backhand. But surprising me even more was the fact the the heavy events also had a women's division. I now know a female welder that if angered, although fairly small, can hurl a sledge hammer like object farther and harder then any man would wish to catch.

But with a total of 1069 RAW format photos and 11min14sec of HD footage, I have to say this is an event that I will be attending again next year. I missed so much but did so much as well, I would recommend planning the events you really want to see and choosing the ones you can miss.

I'd like to sincerely thank the Pacific Northwest Scottish Heavy Events Association for allowing me the opportunity to take all the photos that I did and just for being all round awesome and friendly people.

Now to sort some photos......

And the say the young generation is bad...

Well, its been 4 days now since someone said it and it's still bothering me. On Friday on the construction site I work, we where told that we would be taking Monday and Tuesday off. Tuesday being of course remembrance Day, One of the only true ceremonies with purpose. And from one of the older workers came a statement that damn near blew my mind. "Why can't we just have Monday off and work Tuesday instead, so we don't waste anymore days off." Now I've never been one to go to many of the remembrance day marches but every year I support the poppy drives and take time from my day to remember what our forefathers have done for us that allows us to live the way we do. And again I have been living in Alberta long enough to get used to many, and I mean many, of there Redneck tendencies, But this one seemed to bother me the most.
In hindsight I guess this is just another thing Our forefathers have given us, the ability to speak our minds without fear of punishment. Even though they should be sometimes.

But, As you go about your day today, take some time to remember the fallen, the precious men and woman that gave the lives to help the wars, For if it wasn't for them, we may not be here today.

Lest We Forget

At last......

Well it's been officially 5 years since I last updated my Geocities site in October I decide now is the best time to perhaps take another crack at it. For those who are not in the know I've been working steadily on completing my Plumbing and gasfitting Apprenticeship in Edmonton and have done so with great pride. But now with a bright new open future I find myself looking more to university and degree programs for that added career security. One of these major studies is Japanese, as I've always loved the language but yet never had the mindset to take a Japanese course in high school. But tomorrows a new day and with it comes possibility!

As most of you already know Japanese by itself is not a "degree" program, the end product I'm looking at is a degree in education with a major in Japanese Studies. Having a friend that has already completed this course is much the added benefit.

But to keep this Post short I would like to say hello to all those who have felt last and/or forgotten over these years, And welcome to the little slice of paradise I like to call my world. I hope you enjoy my creative and sometimes questionable content as much as I do creating it.

Open minds and open hearts!
